Tuesday game, Orangeville Play Day & Organic Veggies!!

Hi Laxers,

Great news: we will play the Toronto Stars on Tuesday, June 19th at McGregor Park @7pm! This will be valuable practice leading up to our U12 Play day on June 23 in Orangeville! If you have time this weekend, find a wall and do some wall ball. This is your best option to improve on catching and stick handling. We will practice as usual on Monday, the 18th; this will be our last session of the season.

The Orangeville U-12 (under 12 years) tournament will be VERY BUSY. The organizers have asked me to remind everyone to ARRIVE EARLY to find the fields, find parking (which apparently will be at a premium) and to get the girls to the washrooms etc. Our first game is at 10:30am; players should be ready to warm up (dressed, ready to play) by no later than 10:00 am.

Cathy Dandy (Tabitha's mom and our local ward 15 TDSB trustee) has shared some information regarding a GREAT family event happening the same day, in the same general area as our tournament. Her brother operates Everdale Farm and they are hosting a community food event which features many fun activities for children and adults. Details are below.

See you all on Monday,

Best in lacrosse,
Stephanie

Game play

Hello laxers!!

Thanks to everyone who came out to practice last night. I know parking was an issue with the May 24th festivities at Ashbridges Bay.

Our game tonight with the Toronto Stars is set for 7pm. Please remember to bring your mouthguards and uniforms.

The location is McGregor Park Arena/Community centre which is 2231 Lawrence Avenue East, on the South side, just east of Birchmount Rd. Park at the rear of the arena and look for us on the fields behind the arena.

One note: If anyone has registered and not provided a photocopy of your daughter's birth certificate, please bring me one. The OLA will not accept registration forms without these attached. And then I'll be in trouble!

Looking forward to seeing you all!

Toronto Beaches vs. Toronto Stars

Hi laxers,

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone Monday May 14th @ 6:30pm at Woodbine Bowl. In case you don't know how to get there, it's at the bottom of Coxwell Avenue at Lakeshore. Here is a link to a map:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&z=14&om=1&msid=108581310700339984408.0000011271f769217828c

As I mentioned before, Monday May 21st is a holiday and some of us may be away. I have decided to conduct the practice for those girls who are able to attend. This is a good chance to get some more individualized help!

We have a special opportunity on Tuesday May 22nd! We are invited to a game against the Toronto Stars girls field lacrosse club. The game will be @ 7pm at the Stars home club at McGregor Park Community Arena/Community centre, on the fields behind the building. PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP IF YOU CAN ATTEND!!

A few reminders: Please have your daughter bring a mouthguard next week. Mouthguards are mandatory. The weather is getting warmer. Please don't forget to bring some water to practice.

Thank you to all the people who brought friends or siblings to practice this week! It's always great to see new faces. Our minimum age for play/practice is 7, so a reminder that younger siblings will have to stay on the sidelines.

I will have extra registration forms for those people who need them, and for people who have registered but not paid I will be able to collect your cheques and provide a receipt.

**Tip of the week**: Wall ball is an excellent way to practice catching the ball. Catching is a fundamental skill and takes a lot of practice! Find an outdoor wall with no windows and a smooth surface underneath. See how many times in a row you can catch the ball. Don't forget to pretend you are catching an egg.

Welcome to Beach Girls Laxers

Welcome to the Toronto Beaches Girls Field Lacrosse Blog!

This is your place to find out the latest information about the program, make note of special dates and events, and to ask questions or exhange information.

**If you would like to register, or tried to register on our website and could not (our apologies) please show up on Monday with A PHOTO COPY OF YOUR DAUGHTER'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE. The registration fee is $95, and includes a stick, a shirt, and shorts! We play until the end of June; I would be open to continued sessions in the summer on an informal basis if there is interest.

Our program is for girls between the ages of 7 and 14. We practice Monday nights at 6:30pm; we have one practice left at Ted Reeve and then we are heading down to the Woodbine Bowl, at the foot of Coxwell and Lakeshore. For the May holiday weekend (May 21st) I would like to schedule practice for Tuesday May 22nd. Let me know if this works for you.

We are a House League start up program, so we are open to all beginners and even those who have had a little practice. We are training to play in a tournament being hosted by Ontario Women's Lacrosse designed for beginning teams. The dates are:

U11: Orangeville, Sat. June 23rd

U 15: Brampton, June 9th.

We will enter a team for Orangeville, and depending on our number of older players, will either enter as a team or as individuals in the Brampton tournament. More details about scheduling will follow. Carpooling will be available.

I would like to take interested girls to see some live girls team lacrosse; let me know if you are interested and we can work out a time.

Don't hesitate to call me with questions, to make suggestions, or to ask for resources!

Best in lacrosse,

Stephanie
